Santísima Muerte: You are so near.
In giving us death, you give us life.
Lady Death, teach me to be so alive!
Before you take me back to your body.
May I be alert and present to my life,
here and now, the best I can.
And in being present, may I be fully alive.
Ima, Mother. Adamah, earth. יהוה, being.
You are the ground of all being.
Elul is the last month of the Hebrew year, a time where I assess the past year, let go of what I no longer want or need, and clear the space for the new things to be born of me in the new year.
Santísima Muerte is a goddess name from outside of my ancestral culture. She came through me through the Dark Mother Tarot, and my work with her was fruitful. I give thanks to this face and to the Latinix culture from which this Name arises. I am also thankful to encounter through my practice one of the indigenous Faces of the Divine of the land upon which I currently reside.
